From Arabic to Australian English, Samsung’s Galaxy AI is teaching its tech to talk to the world.
In a recent announcement, Samsung introduced plans to significantly expand the language options available for its Galaxy AI, enhancing accessibility for users worldwide. This expansion includes the addition of three new languages—Arabic, Indonesian and Russian—and three new dialects—Australian English, Cantonese and Canadian French, building on the existing 13 languages currently supported.
TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company’s dedication to democratizing mobile AI. “We will continue to innovate our technology and pioneer premium mobile AI experiences so that even more users are equipped with the right tools to unleash their unlimited potential,” he remarked. Later this year, Samsung also plans to introduce support for Romanian, Turkish, Dutch and Swedish, along with traditional Chinese and European Portuguese, further broadening its global reach.
Advanced features of Galaxy AI
Samsung’s Galaxy AI comes equipped with several advanced features designed to enhance communication and productivity for its users:
- Live Translate: This feature enables real-time voice and text translations during phone calls, simplifying international reservations and family conversations across different languages.
- Interpreter: A split-screen view allows for instant translation of live conversations, making it easy for users to understand each other in their respective languages.
- Chat Assist: This tool offers context-aware suggestions to refine conversational tones, ensuring messages are conveyed correctly, whether in professional or casual contexts.
- Note Assist: Users can generate AI-crafted summaries, pre-formatted templates and cover pages to boost daily productivity.
- Transcript Assist: This function utilizes AI and speech-to-text technology to transcribe, summarize, and translate voice recordings.
- Browsing Assist: Designed to save time, this feature provides concise summaries of news articles or web content, keeping users informed efficiently.
Rollout and availability
The new language options for Galaxy AI will start rolling out in April and continue over the following months. Users will be able to download the additional languages and dialects as language packs from the Settings app on their Galaxy devices, enhancing their mobile experience with richer, more inclusive AI features. This expansion underscores Samsung’s ongoing innovation in mobile technology and its commitment to providing premium AI experiences to a wider audience.
