With Farasis Energy’s Super Pouch Solution, electric vehicles achieve longer ranges and faster charging capabilities.
Adapting to the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market, Farasis Energy, a leading lithium-ion power battery manufacturer, has introduced several innovative products at the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) 2023. These innovations are tailored to meet the increasing demand for power batteries in EVs, which has seen a global installation surge to 225GWh from January to October 2023, a 116.1% increase from the previous year.
Farasis Energy’s showcase at CISCE 2023 features the Super Pouch Solution (SPS), eVTOL battery technology, high-performance battery systems for electric motorcycles and portable power stations. These products align with the evolving needs of the EV industry, focusing on fast charging, cost-effectiveness, extended range, lightweight design and safety.
The SPS stands out as a significant advancement in battery technology. It integrates large-format pouch cells, integrated battery systems, cutting-edge manufacturing processes and efficient direct recycling. SPS is engineered to enhance charging efficiency, reduce costs, improve performance and adapt to various EV models.
Key features of the Super Pouch Solution:
1. High energy density: The SPS system has an energy density of over 220Wh/kg, enabling a driving range of more than 1,000 km. Its non-modular horizontal layout increases energy density by over 30% within the same volume compared to conventional systems.
2. Advanced cell technology: SPS cells use lightweight aluminum plastic film encapsulation and an advanced stacking process, offering a 10% increase in energy density over traditional batteries.
3. Rapid charging and discharging capabilities: SPS supports 2C to 6C charging and discharging rates, allowing EVs to gain up to 400 km range in just ten minutes while maintaining high efficiency during energy release.
4. Innovative lightweight design: SPS integrates semi-solid large-format pouch cells directly into the system chassis, coupled with a high-efficiency liquid cooling plate. This design approach achieves a 75% volume utilization and halves the component count, resulting in a battery system that is 20-30 kg lighter than traditional systems, without compromising on performance.
5. Enhanced safety: SPS features a safe chemical system, secure cell stacking, proprietary phase change materials, superior thermal management and an AI-driven battery management system (BMS), enhancing safety and extending the battery life cycle to over 3,000 cycles.
6. Cost efficiency: The design of SPS significantly reduces material costs by 33% and supports various chemical systems, providing flexibility for automotive manufacturers.
7. Low-carbon intelligent manufacturing: The SPS manufacturing process is characterized by its use of smart technology, digital integration and high automation. The system achieves an electrode stacking speed of 0.125 seconds per electrode, with an automation rate of 98.5% achieved through the use of over 1,200 robots, ensuring products consistently meet precise quality standards.
Farasis Energy’s commitment to innovation is evidenced by the global acceptance of the Super Pouch Solution, marking a transformative phase in the power battery sector. As the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market matures, solutions like SPS are crucial in driving efficiency and sustainability in the automotive industry.
