The partnership aims to strengthen fraud detection and anti-money laundering efforts in the APAC region.
BioCatch, a leader in behavioral biometric intelligence for fraud detection and financial crime prevention, has announced a partnership with Google Cloud. This collaboration aims to extend BioCatch’s fraud prevention solutions to new markets, with Southeast Asia being the primary focus. The partnership seeks to equip banks and financial institutions with advanced tools to address the growing challenge of digital financial crime in the region.
Addressing the rise of financial cybercrime in APAC
According to the BioCatch 2023 APAC Digital Banking Fraud Trends Report, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region has seen a surge in financial cybercrime, with authorized push payment (APP) scams making up 54% of all verified fraud incidents. By collaborating with Google Cloud, BioCatch will provide real-time solutions to help financial organizations in Southeast Asia identify and counteract fraud attacks, thereby safeguarding their customers.
Enhancing fraud detection with behavioral biometrics
The partnership between BioCatch and Google Cloud represents a strategic response to the heightened risk of financial services fraud, as identified in Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA) report in 2022. BioCatch’s technology, which analyzes over 3,000 behavior patterns and cognitive signals, will be integrated with Google Cloud’s secure and flexible platform. This integration aims to enhance the speed and accuracy of fraud detection, offering real-time protection against the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by cybercriminals.
“When it comes to preventing fraud, speed and accuracy are paramount to defeating criminals who are working harder than ever to defraud banking customers through modern technologies,” Richard Booth, BioCatch’s Head of the APAC Market, said. He notes the APAC region’s surge in complex social engineering tactics and the necessity of pre-crime logistics visibility and criminal network intelligence.
“This exciting partnership with Google Cloud allows us to meet these attackers head-on, leveraging an advanced global infrastructure to scale our solutions and fight fraud as it occurs– especially in places like Indonesia where compliance with local data sovereignty laws is paramount to BioCatch’s success,” Booth added.
