RailPulse Partners with Nexxiot to Advance Rail Telematics in North America

The agreement makes it easier for railcar owners to access advanced tracking technologies.

RailPulse, a consortium aimed at revolutionizing the rail sector with advanced telematics (remote tracking and management of railway assets), has partnered with Nexxiot, a leading provider of railcar telematics solutions. This collaboration, announced on March 7 and effective from January 5, 2024, facilitates easier access for railcar owners in North America to Nexxiot’s innovative products and services, encouraging participation in the RailPulse platform.

Under this new agreement, RailPulse will serve as a non-exclusive reseller of Nexxiot’s hardware, software and services, with the primary goal of streamlining the acquisition of telemetry solutions for railcar owners interested in joining RailPulse. This initiative is not profit-driven for RailPulse but aims to enrich the RailPulse community with quality telematics solutions.

Selecting Nexxiot for its proven track record

Nexxiot was chosen for this partnership following its successful involvement in RailPulse’s pilot program, where its telematics solutions were rigorously tested and validated for the North American rail industry. Nexxiot’s technology impressed with its accuracy, reliability and seamless integration with the RailPulse platform, establishing Nexxiot as a trusted partner for delivering top-tier telematics services to the rail sector.

This reseller program, the first of its kind involving RailPulse and a telemetry vendor, aims to foster a vendor-neutral and open-architecture railcar telematics infrastructure across the North American freight rail industry. Participation in the program is voluntary for both telemetry vendors and railcar owners.

“We are excited to partner with RailPulse and to support their vision of creating a data-driven rail ecosystem that enhances service levels, visibility, safety and efficiency,” said Kenneth Mannka, External Vice President of Operations North America at Nexxiot. He further highlighted Nexxiot’s commitment to providing railcar owners with crucial real-time data on asset location, condition and usage to enhance operational efficiency. “By joining RailPulse in this strategic program, we are making it easier for our customers to access our products and services and to leverage the RailPulse platform,” he added.

Enhancing the North American rail industry together

Stakeholders in North America, who own, lease or manage train cars, can now buy Nexxiot’s tech via RailPulse. This will help them outfit their railcars and tap into the RailPulse system for better operations and fleet management. The tech provides insights on location, whether cars are empty or loaded, door openings, brake settings and maintenance needs.

David Shannon, General Manager of RailPulse, welcomed Nexxiot into the reseller program, noting Nexxiot’s leadership in railcar telematics and its consistent delivery of high-quality services. “By offering Nexxiot’s solutions through our reseller program, we are simplifying the purchasing process for railcar owners and providing them with more options and flexibility to join the RailPulse platform. This agreement is a win-win for both parties and for the North American rail industry as a whole,” Shannon remarked.
