With its latest Mini 2 camera, Blink combines high-quality imaging, smart detection and weather-resistant design for versatile home monitoring.
Amazon’s subsidiary, Blink, recently introduced the Blink Mini 2, an upgraded version of its compact security camera. This new model offers improved functionality and versatility, featuring a weather-resistant design suitable for both indoor and outdoor use with an optional weather-resistant power adapter.
The Blink Mini 2 stands out for its enhanced image quality, including better low light performance and a wider field of view, along with a new built-in LED spotlight for color night viewing. The device leverages a custom-built chip for on-device computer vision (CV), enabling smart notifications and person detection as part of the Blink Subscription Plan.
Underlining Blink’s growth, CEO Liz Hamren points to the Mini 2 as a continuation of the brand’s mission to offer accessible and easy-to-use security devices. The new camera incorporates sophisticated features such as CV-enabled person detection to provide users with more precise notifications, aiming to offer premium capabilities at a competitive price.
Emphasis on privacy and integration
Blink ensures that privacy controls remain in the hands of the user through customizable settings in the Blink app, including privacy zones and two-way audio features. The Mini 2 processes all images locally for added privacy assurance. Additionally, the camera integrates with Alexa, allowing for convenient voice commands through compatible Echo devices.
Subscription plan offers extended features
The Blink Subscription Plan enhances the Mini 2’s capabilities with added features such as person detection, cloud storage for video recordings, and extended video history. Subscription pricing begins at US$3 monthly or US$30 annually in the U.S., with Canadian prices at US$5 monthly or US$50 annually.
