The trio collaboration between the government, NVIDIA and Japan aims to enhance global technology collaborations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NVIDIA is playing a central role in a new US$110 million AI research partnership between the United States and Japan, an initiative by the Biden Administration aimed at advancing technology collaborations and fostering innovation. This strategic alliance involves significant efforts by both the University of Washington and the University of Tsukuba to enhance their AI capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with Amazon, NVIDIA is contributing US$25 million to bring state-of-the-art technologies to the University of Washington and the University of Tsukuba. This investment is part of NVIDIA’s broader initiative to support educational institutions worldwide, preparing students for crucial roles in AI through access to high-performance computing resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington State Governor Jay Inslee expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential. \u201cThis collaboration between the University of Washington, University of Tsukuba, Amazon and NVIDIA will help provide the research and workforce training for our regions\u2019 tech sectors to keep up with the profound impacts AI is having across every sector of our economy,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting academia and technological advancement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NVIDIA has a longstanding history of supporting academic institutions to help foster research and education in AI and related fields. This effort involves providing computing resources, specialized training curriculums and financial contributions to facilitate access to high-performance computing (HPC) for pioneering research outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the company\u2019s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, alongside his wife Lori Huang, made a substantial donation of US$50 million to Oregon State University to establish a supercomputing facility that will propel research across various scientific disciplines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, NVIDIA co-founder Chris Malachowsky’s US$50 million donation to the University of Florida has enabled the construction of Malachowsky Hall, dedicated to AI training and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enhancing AI research and applications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The U.S.-Japan partnership facilitated by NVIDIA will focus on expanding research in critical AI application areas such as robotics, healthcare and climate science. This initiative not only strengthens international ties but also underscores NVIDIA\u2019s commitment to leading global efforts in AI research and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership also marks an important collaboration between NVIDIA and Japan\u2019s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). This collaboration focuses on advancing AI and exploring new frontiers in quantum technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NVIDIA’s role in addressing the AI skills gap<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a noticeable increase in demand for AI skills, NVIDIA is actively working to address the worldwide talent shortage. The company recently introduced new professional certifications in generative AI at at its GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2024, aiming to equip developers with the skills needed to excel in AI technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
